Does anyone know how to request the address of a Token Ring adapter's
NAUN (Nearest Active Upstream Neighbor)? Ideally, the request would
be a Netbios request (like a remote status request). I would like to
write a simple program to check the status of all the adapters on the
network periodically, without having to keep updating a list of
adapter addresses. I've read (parts of) Schwaderer's Netbios book
and Haugdahl's Token Ring and Netbios books and I still don't know
how to do it. The NAUN is (optionally?) part of the subvector ID in
a MAC frame (it says) but how do you elicit it and how do you receive
it?
