Our design group is involved with some Ethernet interface work, and a question has arisen concerning the specifications of placing a BNC thinwire connector on a PCB and what restrictions apply as to track length etc. I remember there was discussion some months ago about ways and means of connecting thinwire, and the length limitations between the transformer and the Tee connector. Can someone mail me with the relevant specifications, or with the experiences other designers have had in building this form of thinwire tap interface. Can one, for example, have a low capacitance cable (short!) between the PCB holding the transceiver, and an offboard BNC connector mounted on a case?
