[comp.dcom.lans] Information wanted on the SUN FDDI board

kahlon@caip.rutgers.edu (Gurjot Kahlon) (09/01/89)

I am working on a project to interconnect the SUN, Tektronics
and Ardent graphic workstations with NCUBE and the BBN-1. The purpose
of this link is to make use of the number crunching capabilities of
the parallel machines and using the workstations for graphical
purposes. The data available at the backend of these workstations is
in the order of hundreds of megabytes which can be sent to the
parallel machines with only high speed networks. The standard FDDI is
one of the suitable solutions and SUN microprocessors has recently come
out with a FDDI board. Could anyone tell me more about this board and
also if SUN actually manufactures it or buys it from outside. Also if
someone knows about any alternate vendors who offer this kind of board
could you please email me their addresses. Any other suggestions are
welcome.

                          THANKS !

                                                    Gurjot.

Interphase makes a 6U VME FDDI board. They have a 68020 based controller
board and very soon will have an AMD29000 based controller board to
accelerate data transfer. The gentleman to contact is Jacob Shu of Interphase.
His email address is convex!iphase!jacob

The FDDI Single Ring interface boards are available now.
