We are in the process of setting up a large DECNET, TCP/IP, and LAT network which will span many sites in several countries. We are currently trying to convince our MIS group to use routers insead of bridges to implement the network. In particular, we have suggested the use of Cisco routers. They have asked me to try to find other large corporations using Cisco routers (preferably to support manufacturing). If you fit the above criteria, please send me a note with your comments about the cisco routers and some information about how you use them. Thanks in advance. -- Rich Gopstein ..!rutgers!soleil!gopstein

I was involved with HP Internet up until a year ago. This is built almost entirely using cisco routers, and at the time I left spanned the continental US, the UK (via a 64Kb/s HDLC satellite link) and Europe (via X.25), with several thousand nodes. This network was built by "engineers" to parallel the existing MIS X.25 HP network. The cisco routers made this network run *amazingly* well - so much so that the growth rate of the network surprised everyone involved, and astonished the MIS guys! In short, the hardware and software are excellent and work well, and the guys at cisco are very competent and helpful.
