To IBM TCP (on MSDOSmachines) users in USENETland I have installed IBM Transmission Control Protocol for the Personal System/2 Computer software into a Model 30 (the 8086 type) w/ a UB 2261A Ethernet board. I am using a Micom transceiver It doesn't work (yet) I have "ohmed out" the thinlan coax, the transceiver (and the AUI cable) is new The LOADNIU.EXE utility that comes with the board says that it passes diagnostics The board is set for interrupt 2 and shared memory space at $D0000. I have set DMA settings to 0 (which means that DMA doesn't exist, I think). I have used the custom.exe program (which allows the IBM software to match the particular HW setting) to match these settings but to no avail I have also tried different memory locations with still no luck. Should I try a different I/O block of addresses (I think there is only two to choose from) My signature is at the bottom. (I have turned debug on and nothing looks bad EXCEPT that the software tells me that it thinks that its ethernet address is 00.00.00.00.00.00. Is this right? Is this a backwards broadcast address?). I also think that the machine should be able to ping itself (but it won't) I have installed/configured 802.3 hw/sw in multi and various flavors of *nix machines but this is the first time for a PC Anyway, any help would be appreciated -- Steve Scott UUCP: {attctc|texbell|texsun}!csccat!camdev!sscott Motorola, Inc.
