Has anyone out there had any experience with CALAN broadband
test equipment? We recently had a demo of a sweep generator and
spectrum analyzer (sorry, don't remember the model right now) for use
on our broadband LAN.
To me it seemed like a decent set of equipment for a single-cable
operation (we run sub-split on dual cable) where you would leave the
generator at the headend and take your receiver down-line to test.
The analyzer would 'tell' the generator when to start sweeping and
what channels to filter out.
My questions lean towards reliabilty of the equipment. Has anyone
had problems with any CALAN equipment? They're a relativly new company.
We heard that most of their engineers jumped-ship from Wavetek. We've
had pretty good service from Wavetek so I'm curious as to how high the
caliber of engineers they lost.
Any comments on their equipment or a possible alternative for sweep
testing with selective filtering capabilities would be appreciated.
