There are some differences between the DOS and Unix version but SCO says they'll be fixed by release. The review is by Ross Greenberg, well known personality. Unix Today! He says that PM/X may not really be that compatible with X Windows, that MS wants to do something new and improved. cris -- Cris Simpson | Computer Engineer | No, No! Not THOSE chains! Unfortunately, the versions of WordPerfect and Word available for XENIX/UNIX are not the latest versions. WordPerfect 4.2 is the last UNIX version available so far, and it lacks the enhanced desktop-publishing capabilities of 5.0 and the menus of just-released 5.1. I believe the last version of Word corresponds to DOS Word 3.0, also two versions behind. I have repeatedly read comments from WordPerfect Corp. saying that they had sold double the number of copies they had expected. But judging from relative market share, I expect them to keep devoting most of their energy to DOS, and handling UNIX, Macs, Atari ST's, Amigas, Apple II's, and all the other machines as time permits. WordPerfect 4.2 for UNIX lists at $995. I think Word is priced the same. -- James Deibele jamesd@qiclab BBSs: (503) 760-1473 or (503) 761-7451 TECHBooks: The Computer Book Specialists --- Voice: (503) 646-8257 12600 SW 1st Beaverton, OR 97005 --- Book reviewers wanted for computer science & electronics - contact us for more information.
