The Novell server is acting as an "internal bridge" in Novell's terminology and accepts only NetWare packets. Thus it bridges only NetWare packets. Better security is also available in MAC level bridge boxes containing a managment suite which lets one specify address etc which are allowed to cross the bridge; more management means more $$$.
