[comp.dcom.lans] Downloading HP fonts over a Novell Network

benderly@cs.columbia.edu (Dan Benderly) (12/21/89)

I am responsible for a Novell 2.15SFT network with a Hertz 386/25 server,
and 5 attached printeers. The connections to two of the printers go through
Parallel/serial covertors, although I don't think that is relevant.

The problem I am having is that I can't get down-loadable fonts to work!
This problem has shown up in every program I have tried -- Windows, Word,
and Word Perfect, so it seems to have something to do with Novell. The same
setup works on a local printer, as well as on a Lantastic network elsewhere.

I'm stumped.  Any ideas???

Dan

Could it be related to X-ON / X-OFF on your serial ports?

	Ok what you need to do is have the print job set up as follows:

	File Contents: Byte Stream
	   Suppress Form Feed : Yes
	 Auto Endcap : Yes
	Device = HP Laserjet
	Mode = (re-init)
	Enable Timeout: Yes
	Timeout count : 5 or so.

	This works on my 2.15 SFT Server with a Laserjet series 2
	downloading fonts from word perfect.

This works on our network as well, 2.15, SFT Level I. We use it with
downloadable fonts and Wordperfect, MS Word, Windows, etc.
