I would like to bridge our existing 20 node LANTASTIC (NETBIOS compatible) to a new Ethernet running Netware. Is this possible? The LANTASTIC cards can run Novell Netware with the NETBIOS emulator. So, can I install a LANTASTIC card and an Ethernet card in the Novell server and thus internally bridging the 2 LANs. I think I would need some bridge software uner Novell. Does this sound reasonable? --- * Via ProDoor 3.1R

Does this sound reasonable? Sounds alot like what we do with ether and token ring. The bridge software is built into the server stuff. Just give the two lans unique addresses and your off. The only trick to Novell is that anything talking to one network must agree on what that network's address is. So any other servers or routers should be readdressed along with the existing server to reflect the new network addresses. The server bridge stuff works fine. We haven't seen too much slowdown going through the server/bridge and the server/bridge doesn't seem to be any slower of a server for the load. Good luck.
