This will probably be directed to Netware developers or real power users. We have developed a NIC and driver for Netware 2.1x and would like to break into Server software development. I have called about a *hundred* numbers (OKAY 17), and have been unable to get anyone at Novell support - LANSWER, LANKIND, REDWORD and all the numbers they gave me - to understand my problem. We want to start writing compatible Print/Queue Servers, Routers, Gateways, etc. but we don't have the benefit of a DOS environment for these programs. I understand SAP and have the specs for Queue Management, but when it comes down to looking at the data portion of the IPX packets received from clients, I have no idea what they mean. Now, the $64,000.00 question (actually $10,000). Will getting a copy of the NCP give me what I need? Or is that specifically just Fileserver data? My intent is not to re-invent the wheel; I hope to use the standard client software supporting these services. The main thing we are trying to accomplish is to offload these services from a PC to our LAN environment, which has hooks for X.25, SNA, Asynch Ports, Printers, etc. If there is anyone out there who knows how this works or better yet, has worked with this and can offer any insight please email. If there is enough interest, I'll post a summary to the net..... If there is anyone from Novell that knows what agreements or contracts are necessary, please contact me.
