I'm currently running 3Com 3+ and NetWare on the same piece of cable (ie two servers, and a station can boot to either one OR the other, by using the right boot disk) One of my students is doing a project using NetBios, and is having some problems with the NetBios support under both of these NOSs, (different problems in each one.) I am considering acquiring LANSMART, from DATEX, as it is supposed to be a fully NetBios compatible NOS, and I need to know some things first. Will I have to set up a sperate network, or can I just give the student invloved a LANSMART boot disk, and let him play on the current network, without effecting 3Com or Novell? Has anybody ever heard of LANSMART? Is it likely to solve these NetBios problems? Are the NetBios problems my student is reporting likely to be his fault or 3Com/Novells? (ie, what's the reputation of Novells and 3Coms NetBios implementations? Is anyone else out there using DATEXs D-LINK DE-001 EtherNet card (NE-1000 clone)?
