My boss (at the company where I work during my vacations) has mentioned a problem to me which I think someone out there may know the answer to. He has just had an Ethernet line installed (well within the distance limits), and that seems to be okay. However, when he generates the Novell NetWare 'Server' shell, the thing works OK with an 8-bit Ethernet card (at least, it doesn't give an error - he hasn't got any stations running on it yet), but gives him an error (I can't remember exactly what it is, it's something like 'Ethernet Fault') when he tries it with a 16-bit card. He's running Novell Advanced NetWare 2.0a (soon to be 2.15), on an AT (soon to be a Model 80, I hope!!) with 1 and a bit meg of RAM and 30 meg Hard Disk. This is really a test, as when the thing is proved to work it will be put into an AT which already handles a PC-Net network and a Token Ring, with 2 meg of RAM and 130 meg Hard Disk. Does anyone have any guesses as to why the thing throws out the 'big' card ?? Answers on a postcard (or, alternatively through E-Mail - if anyone wants the same info I can stuff them a summary or something) Thanks in anticipation (as they say ...), Dave C, UEA, Norwich, ENGLAND. NOTE : This problem has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the University, so consequently my opinions on anything at all are nothing to do with them.
