hey netlanders. i'm looking for recommendations on terminal servers. i want: to connect from a NeXT computer via ether-net to 8-12 RS232 serial devices. simple eh? no. must have: support 8 bit binary. full hardware handshaking (txd, rxd, cts, rts, dcd, dtr). data rates to 9600 baud. communicate with the NeXT using socket() i/o. non-vol configuration (or load from host). support permanent connections. small package. we have looked at: cisco STS10. it drops connections. there is a "design decision" such that if you drop cts it shuts up but doesn't tell the host to shut up. bad news dude, buffer overrun uninet. they talk over the scsi bus. looks like a great solution. we bought two. we don't have them. it has been two? months now. i can't wait forever while they port their software to the NeXT. internet nts200. doesn't support binary mode. emulex. beta test at end of last oct. we haven't looked further at them. should we? each terminal server will be connected to four modems (one dedicated outbound), four xetron special devices, and a printer. there isn't vasts amounts of data to transfer but at times the data can appear in large chunks (14-20k). i'm hot to trot and need two NOW. please reply by email. dennis p. glatting xetron corporation 513-346-3455 dennisg@kgw2.bwi.wec.com
