It DOES support DOS 3.X-style file locking. > Am I correct in assuming that NETBIOS (with its data grams, portability, >and easy to program Interrupt calls) is is easier to program than PCNFS >(which is a file transfer based system)? PC-NFS's Toolkit is very much like writing applications under BSD unix. If you are not familiar with the Berkely socket library style of writing network applications, then the Toolkit might be confusing. I come from such a backround and it's really easy for me to create little programs. I have had to learn some things about MSDOS error handling to make things work well, but I suspect that I'd have to learn than for any programs I might write that want to avoid the "Abort, Retry, or Ignore" messages. If you'd like to see some examples of programs written for PC-NFS, check out the NFS archives on bcm.tmc.edu via anonymous ftp (look on the nfs directory) or send mail to the archive-server@bcm.tmc.edu with the subject line of "send nfs index" -- Stan internet: sob@bcm.tmc.edu Director, Networking Olan uucp: {rutgers, mailrus}!bcm!sob and Systems Support Barber Opinions expressed are only mine.
