Hi, I would like the ask the question of how compatible are the Novell SFT Netware 286 (ver2.15) and Novell Netware 386 (latest version?). I am planning of mixing two SFT Netware/286 and buying a new Netware 386 for running on ARCnet. Each machine will connect to its main clients using its own ARCnet (3 seperate ARCnets). Each SFT Netware/286 will have at a maxinum of 60 machines on it and about 10 on the Netware 386. The three machines will be connected thru another ARCnet or Ethernet together with some other types of servers, eg printer server and communication servers to modems and IBM mainframe. We only use PC clones and need to log onto IBM infrequently. The traffic will be very light but very bursty, especially when people boot up their diskless PC. The server with Netware 386 will be doing some email stuff, printing. We wanted to have a server with Netware 386 because we want to house our huge harddisk on it for mail and other things. What I am worried about is how well do different versions of Netwares work together. Will the IPX/NET3 shells work with both Netware 286 and 386? (Oh, I am planning to download the 2.15c shell drivers so that I can work with MS Window 3.0) How well will printing work together? We are using PS Print and planning to running PS Print of the 386 server. (Do I need PS Print anymore?) Thanks in advance for any kind of response. -- Mike my@dtg.nsc.com
