[comp.dcom.lans] Novell Netware Limits

xdaa374@ut-emx.UUCP (William T. Douglass) (08/01/90)

We are looking at Novell Netware (or DaynaNet, which is NetWare 2.15)
as a file & print server for a Mac-only network. I'd like to tap the
collective wisdom of the net for a few questions:

 - can anyone tell me the limit on # of open files supported in Netware
2.15? Is this a tunable parameter?

 - What sort of query capabilities does the print spooler have? Can
regular users see the status of the print queue?

 - Also, does anyone out there have any experience running e Sony NEWS
server as an AppleShare-type server (uShare s/w, I believe)?

Thanks much for any & all responses.
(Please mail responses and I will summarize to the group.)

Tunable up to 1000 at once.

Yes, but only supervisor capable and print operators can change somebody
elses print jobs.
