I am thinking about connecting my PC to the campus network; this should be as simple as just getting an ethernet interface card for my box, and a cable to connect to the modular plug (methinks an RJ-11, not too sure, this will be for my dorm room in the Fall, I haven't seen it, and I've been able to break into my building only once this summer :) As I have no knowledge of networking on the hardware-end whatsoever, I am not Real Sure of whether this is right. If it is, anyone know of any good [read : cheap] places to buy ethernet cards? Computer Shopper was real weak on ads regarding these. And a subsidiary question: anyone come up with an ftp server for a non-unix running PC? If not I figger I can take ftp/ftpd source and come up with a quik hack for it... nulspace@eng.umd.edu [at work] | Warning: sig is under construction in attempt nulspace@wam.umd.edu [at play] | to emulate the rest of the campus: watch out U of M, College Park, MD | for mud, rocks, cabling, and dead squirrels.
