We're putting out an RFP to have a fiber network installed on campus. This network must support FDDI and Ethernet as well as various sundry uses now existing and not yet invented. We're trying to write specs for the fiber vendors that will assure that the fiber does support FDDI and Ethernet. Does anyone know where I can lay hands on an authoritative document that tells what limits on chromatic dispersion, distance-bandwidth product etc. are permissable? Better yet, has anybody out there been through this process already and prepared a spec that we can use? Thans in advance -- Walt Haas haas@cs.utah.edu
