We are attempting to install a 3+ Open network in a lab containing IBM PC's with 3C501 boards in them. The problem we are running into is when we boot the machines, we get an error "Data error raading drive A - Abort, Retry, Fail". When we fail it, a message saying "Error spawning A:\3OPEN\DOSWKSTA\LANMAN\REDIR.EXE" appears, and the drive refuses to run anything (it'll do a directory just fine, but when attempting to run any programs, it again gets the data error). The disk checks out OK with Norton's DT, and it also boots successfully on our Zenith 286 systems (which also have the 3C501 cards). We placed a 3C503 card in the old IBM, reconfigured the boot disk, and it worked fine. We've also got about 10 IBM PS/2 Model 30/286's with 3C501 cards, and they boot OK. Our only problem seems to be with the 3+ Open/IBM PC/3C501 card combination. We are using 3+ Open with maintainence release 1.1E. The only card (other than the standard IBM floppy controller and CGA video card) is a multi-IO board, but the machine still got the errors after we removed it. Has anyone out there had any success or problems running this configuration? Thanks, Bryan -- _____________________________________________________________________________ | Bryan Gonderinger bgonderm%nmsu.edu | | Network Programming Box 30001, Dept. 3AT | | Computer Center, Small Systems Las Cruces, New Mexico | | New Mexico State University 88003 | |_____________________________________________________________________________|
