[comp.dcom.lans] Window 3.0 compatible with Netware 3.01 in 386 mode

pcb@gator.cacs.usl.edu (Peter C. Bahrs) (09/13/90)

Someone just replied to me and said that Netware 3.01 may not
be compatible with MS Windows 3.0 in enhanced mode.

Is this correct? I sure hope not.

Yes, it is compatible. We are in the process of installing Netware,
running Windows 3.0 with DOS 4.01. There have been problems but they
seem to have been solved. Right now the only problem I am having is
that a DOS session started from Windows seems to lose all environment
information. Often, running "set" shows several lines of garbage,
extended characters. Anybody else encounter this problem (and,
hopefully, solve it)?

Have you set up enough environment space in the config.sys file?
shell=c:\command.com /p /e:1024
will reserve 1024 bytes for environment space. BTW any environment variables
set in a DOS shell will not be available to the shell, but may be reflected
in the DOS session when windows is exited.
