I am setting up a network using office PC's in the Physical Plant in Rochester Institute of Technology using the AT&T STARLan 10, which is a 10base-t (ie, like Ethernet, but with twisted wire instead of cable). Our client server is an AT&T 386 WCS, and is running Lan Manager 2.0 under System V 4.3.3 UNIX. My supervisor is interested in making the hard drives on the server fault tolerant, as virtually all of our data and programs are on the server disk. We would like to have some kind of mirroring system, in which the server writes to both drives, and reads from one, and switches to the other if the hard drive shows some kind of error. Does such a product or method exist for UNIX, or even Lan Manager 2.0? Another question- In the future, we would like to get another server as our LAN expands, and we would like to have the servers pool the hard drives. We have seen diagrams of SCSI drives hooked up with multiple initators and devices. This sounds really neat- what's the scoop? Thank you- Derrick Williams
