Yes, I've had a chance to listen to the new Dire Straits EP, and in my opinion, it is HOT. I liked their first LP... at the time it appealed to me as something fresh and innovative. But their second and third LP's seemed a little lacking in energy... But not so on the new disc. Some- one must've slipped Knoppfler (sp?) some happy pills or something. The opening cut, "Twisting By The Pool" is fantastic. Sort of a poppy dance number with Dire Straits trademark vocal and guitar sounds. The other three songs on the EP are also quite good... all in differing styles... but with the characteristic D.S. sound. ... uw-beaver!eli

The local radio station (Portland OR) played one cut last friday. It
sounded like earlier DS; you would not mistake it for anyone else. Odd
thing though; the DJ said it was a new LP named "EP". Hmmmmmmm!!!
Whatever the case I am actively looking for it.
