Greetings. I must soon gather some statistics about the performance (especially throughput, also throughput/load) of a wide range of various Ethernet/802.3 boards/drivers. I fully expect to have to perform the measurements myself (for accuracy's sake), but it would be nice if I could find a reliable source for some. I'm most interested in boards that have UNIX drivers, but if the board promises high performance, I'm not above writing the driver to get it. As far as that goes, I'm willing to look at boards with drivers for -ANY- variant of UNIX that runs on one of the mentioned buses. What I'm looking for is some suggestions of boards to measure, as well as pointers to already-completed evaluations. If anyone expresses an interest (or gives me some suggestions), I'll summarize to the net. For that matter, anybody who has any particular suggestions of properties I should measure is encouraged to suggest them. I can't guarantee that what concerns you will concern me, but there's a good chance, isn't there? -- Lyle Wang lws@comm.wang.com 508 967 2322 Lowell, MA, USA uunet!comm.wang.com!lws The scum always rises to the top.
