On other BBoards, I have heard rumor of non host-specific ethernet adapters, such as SCSI ethernet boards, as well as bidirectional parallel-port ethernet boards, the idea being that any computer with such an interface (scsi or centronics) can have ethernet capability, given the appropriate software to handle it.
