Does anyone here know about the Ethernet support over the Intecom CBX (that's a fancy term for Computerized PBX, a phone switch)?? I am dealing with a situation where the PBX supports a funny box that has an AUI connector one one side and twisted-pair on the other...it is *not* 10BASET, however; it seems that it is programmed on some digital line card on the PBX, but cross-connect work is also required at the central field. I am supposing that this beast does sub-rate modulation and actually transmits/receives at 64K (possibly 56K). It is a distinct wire run from the telephone's wire. If you do have some experience with this arrangement, I have the following questions: 1) How is it administered - are nets segmented in software? 2) What cross-connects are required and why? I can understand the PBX-to -outlet wiring, but I was led to believe that other work was needed. 3) What is the acutal throughput (carrier) of such an arrangement. 4) Bugs and Cost. -- +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Carlo Milono | | Personal: netcom!cmilono@apple.com or apple!netcom!cmilono | |"Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere | | in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us."
