[comp.dcom.lans] NCSA Telnet problem

I have run into a problem with NCSA Telnet.

On a Hp Vectra ES/12 286 machine with 2688 Kbytes total memory running DOS 3.3
and Windows 3.0, NCSA Telnet 2.3b9 will not exit to DOS via alt-E.  It will
work if I exit Windows and then run NCSA Telnet.  Has anyone else seen this?  
Is there a work around or possibly a fix in a later release?
