prefer to find one which uses the Clarkson packet drivers. I've had a look at NCSA Telnet, but although it can respond to pings it can't generate them. "ping" is really just a user handle to the ICMP ECHO function,
described in RFC792. Get the RFCs via anonymous FTP from nic.ddn.mil
or via UUCP from uunet or osu-cis, or via mail to service@nic.ddn.mil.
