[comp.dcom.lans] NDIS Packet Driver & NCSA Telnet

chris@cxbne.cx.oz (Chris Sharp) (11/08/90)

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend, please respond by email.

He has been trying to load NCSA Telnet V2.2 in conjunction with
3+Open LAN Manager V1.1e with little success.

Using TCP/IP as the primary protocol for LAN Manager, he has been
attempting to use the FTP MAC/NDIS to Packet Driver Version 1.0 pl 1
as supplied with FTP's Generic TCP/IP V2.04 in conjunction with
NCSA Telnet's Packet Support.

The NDIS to Packet driver seems to work fine for FTP TCP/IP, but
NCSA Telnet gives a "Reading config file" message, spews gibberish
over the screen and then crashes the PC (386sx compatible with vga)
with some weird results such as cmos ram reset.

Portions of his protocol.ini & config.tel are below:

[PKTDRV]
 DRIVERNAME = PKTDRV
 BINDINGS = ETHERLINKII
 INTVEC = 0X65
 CHAINVEC = 0X66

#
hardware=packet #network adapter board
tek=no
video=cga #he has tried all the other options and card is cga compat
	  #legal values are cga, ega, no9, hercules
bios=yes
ioaddr = 65
#interrupt=0
#address=0
#ioaddr=0
ftp=no
rcp=no

Can anyone please suggest where he is going wrong?
