It seems that "officially" Banyan does not support any MicroChannel based Twisted Pair Ethernet cards. Not 3Com, not Western Digital, etc. Now I know Banyan has a driver for the 3Com MicroChannel "normal" Ethernet card. My understanding is that 3Com didn't change the S/W interface (and there is no reason why they should) when they built the Twisted Pair version of their board. So theoretically it should be possible to use the driver for the "normal" board for the MicroChannel board. However, the catch seems to be that when a Banyan driver for a MicroChannel board starts up, it attempts to read the good old MicroChannel configuration parameters that are set during that long convoluted set-up disk procedure (and they say this is a step up from dip switches??!). And guess what? The "normal" driver can't find the Twisted Pair board because presumably, they are called slightly different things in the MicroChannel configuration table. Does anyone know of either some good MicroChannel tools so that I can either patch the configuration table, or at least see what's happening, or have some info on patching a Banyan driver (anyone done this yet?), or even better, if someone actually has a Banyan driver that works with the 3Com Microchannel twisted pair ethernet board. Looks like there is a patch available from Banyan that will allow a Banyan driver to work with the 3Com twisted pair 3C523 board. Thanks to all those who replied with advice ... it would have been nice if Banyan were a little bit quicker with their information... -- Phil Trubey SHL Systemhouse Inc.
