Does anyone know of any vendors for FDDI analyzers? I know about a Tektronix FDDI fiber analyzer, but all that does is examine the cable for losses and faults -- I need an analyzer that will work up to (at least) layer 2. Anyone have any info? Vendor telephone numbers, model numbers, features, and pricing info would be appreciated. Please mail to me if possible, and I'll summarize to the net. (P.S.: if there ever is a vote taken on establishing a Novell subgroup, I vote yes. I'm getting tired of wading through all that Netware stuff to find the few articles that I'm interested in.) -- David Cornutt, New Technology Inc., Huntsville, AL (205) 461-6457 (cornutt@freedom.msfc.nasa.gov; some insane route applies) "The opinions expressed herein are not necessarily those of my employer, not necessarily mine, and probably not necessary."

I saw and used the Tekalec (sp?) FDDI analyzer in InterOp '90. I was pleased with its functions but of course I would like to see more in the package. I basically can check the line state on the line, the network statistics and examine the frames. I don't know what their number is but I can get it if you send me a mail. FDDI is still very very new, (we just introduced a chipset this year) so don't expect everything from any FDDI analyzer. -- Mike

I know of 2 existing companies that are currently marketing FDDI analyzers: 1. Digital Technology Inc. (513)443-0412 Price ranges from $46,500 to $68,100 depending on options They also offer a lower cost FDDI symbol monitor which couples to a logical analyzer and an FDDI symbol generator. 2. Tekelek (818)880-6993 Don't know too much about this one.....I'm getting a demo in a few weeks. Merike Kaeo
