I've got a NOVELL 286 SFT 2.15 C server with two CDC WREN V SCSI 600 Mb drives
and two 40 Mb SCSI CONNER CP340 drives. I've got them attached to the SCSI
bus as follows:
Volume size Controller Address Volume names
600 Mb 0 SYS: VOL1: VOL2
40 Mb 1 VOL40:
600 Mb 2 VOL6: VOL7: VOL8:
40 Mb 3 VOL41: (or mirror of VOL40:)
The SCSI bus is channel 1, a Novell DCB controller.
The NETGET INSTALLATION menu lets me mirror the two 40 Mb drives, but when I
tell NETGEN to go ahead and install the changes to the configuration onto the
network drive I get the following message:
Problem with Drive 03 Invalid redirection table -- entry out of range.
Then when I try to bring up the server (I boot up from a floppy since it seems
impossible to get this PC - an AST Premium 386-20 with 12Mb RAM -- to boot from
the boot track on Drive 0) I get the following message:
Problem with Drive 01 Auto-remirroring will be done
Then, Mounting SYS
Mounting VOL1
Mounting VOL1 (yes its repeated.)
ABEND General Protection Error Turn power off and on to restart
Running Process: INIT
I've tried un-mirroring, re-initializing the 40 Mb drives, then re-mirroring.
I've tried re-initializing the mirrored drive. I've tried telling NETGEN to
re-copy the Operating System to the SYS: volume. The only way I could get the
server to come up was to unmirror the drives. Once I did that, both drives
were available and there were no error messages at any stage of the process.
Is it possible that mirrored drives need to be at adjacent controller
addresses?
