OK, I've got a slippery one here. I just upgraded my PC from a 10Mhz 286 to a 25Mhz 386, with super VGA, and a logitech serial mouse, inplace of herc and genius serial mouse (mouse systems compat). OK, so I turned it on and my problems started. It seems as though everthing conflicts in one way or another with the ethernet card (same wd8003 8bit ethernet card as old machine). I have 3 copies of windows 3.0, and 2 don't work but 1 does, no idea why. If I change the mouse driver on the one that does work, it stops working, so I'm stuck with the genius mouse. The symptoms, are that if the logitech mouse mouse.com or mouse.sys is used, the ethernet card can't be used, it just says no file server found on novell and NCSA doesn't want to know it. Everythink seems to work fine if I don't load the network drivers, but I have to hit the reset button if I want the network card to work after using the logitech mouse or one of the other mice drivers on windows. (This includes changing the mouse from COM1 to COM2). DOes anyone have any ideas on how to stop this problem. The Windows disks are from Microsoft themselves (1 set), the computer manufacturer (1 set), and one set that came on a replacement harddrive from the computer manufacturer. -- ============================================================================== | Hamish Marson <hamish@waikato.ac.nz> | | Computer Support Person, Computer Science Department | | University of Waikato | |Disclaimer: Anything said in this message is the personal opinion of the | | finger hitting the keyboard & doesn't represent my employers | | opinion in any way.
