We're going to put a small LAN together, maybe 8-10 MSDOS PCs with Windows3, and we'd like to get an email package that either runs under MS Windows or has it's own "GUI", just to make it easy for the users. We;d like to use existing phone line twisted pairs and eventually, we'd like to hook it up to an existing 1 MB StarLAN and an existing Novell. What suggestions do you have for us? I've gotten a lot of advice from several of you and I think I'm getting close to making a decision. Would you critique the following system for me, please? Server: 16 MHz 386 with 8MB RAM and a 120MB HD, running UNIX SVR4 (probably Microport because of price) with TCP/IP and NFS. WD 16-bit ethernet card. Clients: 15-20 various MSDOS Zenith XTs and 286-ATs, running MSDOS. WD 8-bit ethernet card. FTP's TCP-PC with their "Interdrive", an NFS-like program. daVinci email. Question: are the WD cards for thick or thin ethernet? Thanks for your help. Pete -- Prof. Peter J.
