Followup-To: Distribution: usa Organization: Georgia Institute of Technology Keywords: I am greatly confused about the compostition of RG-58 cable. I have recently installed a 5 node office network using thin ethernet or RG-58. The first cable I used was Novel Certified rg-58 cable. It had one hard copper wire in the middle surrounded by braided wire on the outside. This cable worked great and made adding ethernet connecters a breeze. But, when I needed more cable to add another node to the network, I received cable that was highly inadequate. It was also Novell certified except it had soft braided wire on the inside instaed of the hard copper wire. This mad it impossible to thread the center cable throught to hole in the ethernet connector. Is there something I am doing wrong or is it just that I have the wrong cable? I can't see any use for ethernet cable that is too flimsy to install. Thanks in Advance Josh Guttman gt0652b@prism.gatech.edu ******************* Bar Code is EVIL! ***********************

Josh, You just have to make sure that you order solid wire RG-58 cable, since you can order both solid wire (with respect to the inner wire) and stranded wire..... if they gave you the wrong cable, take it back, but there is both RG-58 solid AND stranded cable.....
