We are installing a manufacturing system. We are faced with the following
constraints:
1. Workstations are PS/2s running Windows 3/DOS.
2. Workstations participate in a Novell network.
3. Workstations are connected via IBM Token Ring.
We want like these workstations to be able to use 3rd party X based
application running on a Sun Workstation without loosing their current
functionality and without changing our networks or installing new
networks.
I can think of some partial solutions (X over Token Ring, Portable Netware?,
TR/Ether IP bridge, etc.) Does anyone know how to do this - in whole or in
part? What would be involved? Per seat cost is not the greatest issue -
functionality, flexibility and quality are.
Thanks in advance.
