Hey everyone, Does anyone know which capacitor to cut out to
disable heartbeat on a DEC H4000 transceiver.

Glen, If you are really want to use a H4000 transceiver this is what you'll have to do - Open the transceiver. - You'll find to rows of capacitors on to of the printcard. - Cut the 10th capacitor ofthe left in te right row ( below 'SIDE1'). If you dont have to use ESPEC 2 transceivers please don't. The H4000 wont lock up when the DTE jabbers (actually it does lockup but it will reset). An IEEE 802.3 MAU can only be reactivated by removing the AUI cable (power down). I've had some strange events on a segment due to a H4000 and it took some time before I found that the H4000 was teh cause of it.
