Hello. First, I must apologize if this is the wrong group for my question. I cannot receive this newsgroup. Please, PLEASE, direct any replies to my e-mail address. I am experiencing a strange problem logging in to my server. It refuses to recognize the map statements to itself. This machine is a Gateway2000 386/25 with 110Mb drive, 4 Mb RAM, running Compaq DOS 3.31 and Netware ELS Level I (4 user). The odd part is this - the system script and user script are fine. The mappings are normal and work for anyone logging in from a location OTHER than the server. When you try and log in from the server, it beeps and says it can't locate ELS_NETSERVER (our server's name). If I try to log in a second time, it SOMETIMES does just fine. Sometimes it takes 3 to 4 attempts. Sometimes, it gets halfway through the map statements beeping and squwauking and then decides it really DOES know the ELS_NETSERVER and allows the last few map statements to work. If this happens, then I simply login again and get the rest of the maps to 'take'. So - the problem is like an intermittent short. The first couple of times that one tries to log in from the server, it refuses to identify with itself. Then, for no apparent reason, it decides it does know itself and allows a login. My users are irate with me because I can't fix this. Someone has suggested a corrupted FAT and that I need to re-install. Anyone else have a suggestion? Again - my system cannot receive this group. Please e-mail any response to the address in my signature.
