[comp.dcom.lans] Ethernet Type Code 8137- What is it?

culvertl@stat.appstate.edu (03/15/91)

Can anyone tell me what an Ethernet Type Code of "8137" is? I see this type code
come from Novell servers and Netware workstations so I assume it has something
to do with Advanced Netware.

8137 is the type for Novell networks running over ethernet (using Ethernet_II
packets vs. 802.3 packets). I believe it was first used to get Netware VMS
to work and became a defacto type when they started using packet drivers.
