I have been involved in the setup of a network, including Brouters, that will be supporting the ISO protocol. Some of the machines will have the TOP/NetBIOS spec with CLNS up to TP4 and NetBIOS on top, other machines will have the CP1 (Retix) stack and be full-seven-layers-pure-OSI. I haven't found an comp.lans.osi newsgroup, so I thought I'd post here. As I understand it, there has been a bit of discussion on inter-Domain addressing as it relates to the AFI part of the protocol. It seems that the default being implemented is to have the AFI set to 49 as the local authority, yet in the ECC movement, there may be Inter-Domain routing and this could be seen as being very troublesome. Also, I haven't seen any routers that do true ISO IS-IS routing protocols, but rather a modified form of IGRP (see ISO DP 10589). I could also use some help on the variety of reserved Selector Bytes. Any experience (and opinions) out there? Thx. -- +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Carlo Milono: cmilono@netcom.apple.com or apple!netcom!cmilono | |"When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, | |that the dunces are all in confederacy against him." - Jonathan Swift | +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+
