I've been seeing ads for several ethernet interfaces for laptops that plug into the parallel port. Does anyone have experience with these? What sort of network performance do they provide? Could they be used for desktop PCs as well? (it would save one expansion slot) What about software support? Are there packet drivers for these NICs? Xircom has a packet driver, but I cannot recommend them (email for details).
D-Link has a Clarkson-derived packet driver that's in the 9.x release.
IQ Technologies wants you to run NDIS and dis_pkt. They are specifically
not interesting in supplying a packet driver at this time.
