Christoph Uloth <chris@ec.uwa.oz.au>, Andrew C. Esh <andrew@jhereg.osa.com>, and others have raised the notion that a newsgroup is needed for discussions of the Internet Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and discussions of software managers and agents for use with SNMP. There have been a number of postings outside the news.groups arena supporting creating such a newsgroup. I suspect that this is actually a case where what is needed is to get someone to create an "inet" distribution newsgroup, but to cover things all the way round, I am posting a formal USENET Request for Discussion. The formal proposal follows.
