I am seeking advice / guidance on the best solution for the following scenario: Current Network. -4MB Token Ring, with IBM 3174 controllers and a 3174 O1L with the Token Ring option. -Terminals & PC attached to 3174 controllers via Coax. The PCs have a 3278/79 card and run 3270 Emulation, enabling them to toggle between PC and Mainframe. Trial: -Novell network running version 3.1, 486 server, using the same Token Ring. -The application being trialed is very memory hungry. -Expected number of workstations will be approx 16. The PCs on the Novell Network need access to the Mainframe with out using an additional link (Coax). I understand from various suppliers that a Gateway will provide the best solution, as it uses 106k per workstation. Is there anything better? Thanks for any info/comments supplied. -- john@actrix.gen.nz

Don't know about "better", but there is a solution for NetWare that involves a 3299 mux emulator that supports up to 40 sessions through a 3174 Terminal Adapter (not Terminal Mux Adapter). The 3174 itself need not support the -01 TRN GW Feature (though it's OK if it does). /Pete -- Peter M.
