Which of the Ethernet controller chips that are currently available, is the most perfect/close to perfect chip to design with? I know the AMD 7990 and the Intel 82586 used to have problems in the beginning. What about the National 8390 chip? How is the Texas Instr. Eagle Token Ring chip doing? I hear Western Digital has one for Token Ring also. Does the Pulse Engg front end interface chip (TROLI) really support the required number of stations on a Token Ring (per IBM spec)?
