Posting this for my cousin. Forwarded message: ================================================================= In your work environment, have you had any discussions regarding interfacing a Netbios DOS LAN and UNIX onto the same piece of ethernet. We have an existing DOS LANtastic LAN; those same PC's talk to the UNIX box via RS-232 dedicated wiring. In order to expand further we have to rationalise and stick all signals on to that Ethernet LAN. Products which have been mentioned as capable of the task are Powerfusion by PT; PC-Connect and (TCP/IP) PC/TCP from Unipress which is the solution being proposed by our vendor. The UNIX box is an ICL DRS6000 (Sparc 386 based), AT&T Unix Vr4 and the cards in each PC are Artisoft AE2's, which have a NE2000 capability. We are running LANtastic NOS 3.03 AI as we have a few ZIRCOM adaptors for Laptops to connect to the LAN. Does anyone think they can describe the answer? We don't want to move away from LANtastic if it can be helped ..... Be really pleased to hear from anyone with a similar prob. ================================================================== + ++ + + ++D++ + A=ADELAIDE The Southern Arm of Oz + + B=BRISBANE Gerald Englebretsen, South Arm, Tas + B+ D=DARWIN Australia + + H=HOBART (35 kms S/East of Hobart) +P +A+ S+ M=MELBOURNE +++ +M + P=PERTH Voice\Data 61.02.399258 S=SYDNEY Internet 09640@tanus.oz.au OZ +++++ + : + ++H TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA'S BEST HOLIDAY ===================================================================
