I just got a Super Eagle, came with my new Sun-3/280S. Right now the 280 is using an existing Eagle, and the 2361 is still in the box. From the horror stories, I plan on using the SE to store not-as-important partitions (like Netnews :-), for example dumping my 6 Sun source tapes onto one partition (thus if it craps out, I haven't lost anything irreplaceable). Of course, I do backups every day so major lossage isn't too likely, unless the whole damn thing crashes through the floor. Two questions: (1) Everyone keeps throwing `HDA' out. Explain, please. I can't find any mention of an HDA or HDA revision on the sheets that came with it (in the packet with the media defect list). (2) How can I tell if it was manufactured late enough to hopefully be more reliable than the previous ones? Here's some relevant data: Serial # J6191 Manufacture date 11/86 DE serial # JG6753, media defect list generated 11/25/86 `Total Revision' A - 9; B - 8 ; C - 2. `P.C.B. revision levels: Logic 14F, Read Amp 19D, Servo 22D, I/F Basic 06B, Power Amp 07B, Display Panel 08B, Back Panel 09A Like I said, I can't find any `HDA revision' mentioned anywhere. Is it something you can read off of the drive itself?
