I posted news a while ago about a problem that I am having with the Gemini 10X printer. The problem was a print head jamb to the left on the odd carriage return. Because I did a little research and I did get a couple of replies, I will share the scoop. Star Micronics has good customer support. I have written a few times and always get prompt replies. I wrote asking if there has been a bug discovered with there Gemini 10X printer like the one I described. It turns out that they will send you the newest version of EPROMs free of charge. Just send in your old ones when you get the new. But before you all rush out and ask for new ROMs you may already have the newest version. Open up your Gemini by taking out the two screws on top at the back. The circuit board is back there and has a CONTROL version stamped on it near the front edge. If you have control version A, then the newest EPROMs are GX1.4. There is a pair of EPROMs, but they should both say 1.4 on them somewhere. If you have control version A and don't have 1.4's then write and get new ones. The address is in your manual. If you don't have control version A, then write to see if you have the newest version of ROMs. Some of the bug fixes in control A are: super/sub scripts, lower case 'j' descender, ribbon jamb with block graphics. I'd like to thank John Linzy at Star Micronics for such friendly service. Scott McPhee
