Is anyone aware of a device that can be attached to a serial printer (other than a pc, of course) that will allow it to handle remote printing? The idea would be that a printer (and perhaps some buffer box) are attached to an autoanswer modem. A remote user dials in and copys a file to the com port, this results in the remote printer printing whatever is coming down the line. One of our users has a use for this kind of beast and thus I am curious is something like this exists and if it is inexpensive enough to use as opposed to simply getting a micro and using it as the front end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerry Santoro ****** * Microcomputer Information & Support Center ********** * Penn State University ****** **** * 101 Computer Building ******** **** * University Park, PA 16802 *************** * (814) 863-4356 ************ * ********* * ******* ** * GMS @ PSUVM (bitnet) ***** ** * ...!psuvax1!psuvm.bitnet!gms (uucp) **** * gms%psuvm.bitnet@wscvm.arpa (arpa) *********
