Is anyone aware of a device that can be attached to a serial printer
(other than a pc, of course) that will allow it to handle remote
printing? The idea would be that a printer (and perhaps some buffer
box) are attached to an autoanswer modem. A remote user dials in and
copys a file to the com port, this results in the remote printer printing
whatever is coming down the line.
One of our users has a use for this kind of beast and thus I am curious
is something like this exists and if it is inexpensive enough to
use as opposed to simply getting a micro and using it as the front
end.
