[net.unix-wizards] help -- 785 won't boot

miorelli@pwa-b.UUCP (Bob Miorelli) (08/13/85)

I'm bringing up a new UN*X system and I'm having problems.
Specifics: 4.2BSD, VAX 785, RA81 disks, dmf32 terminal controllers,
3 Unibuses. My present system is a 780, dh terminal interfaces and RM05 disk
-- that works fine. When booting the 785, it can't seem to recognize
the fact that there are any terminals out there -- any process that
tries to address them hangs and cannot be killed. Both the dmf and uda
are on Unibus zero (for now). There is a 'funny' on bootup -- the
vectors it shows are out to lunch. The uda (ra81 interface) shows
a vector of 774 (it's really 154), but the disk SEEMS to work fine.
The dmf shows a vector of 740 (it's really 310). What gives ?? The
system works fine single user, or it comes up multi (console only) and
works fine. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
