Let me start this discussion by saying OF COURSE I realize that a serial tape drive would be slower than a bus driven one. But I am trying to put a tape drive on my AT&T PC7300 and the only drives available are a ripoff (2K for a 23M drive that's slower than a tax refund check?). Of course the optimum solution would be a QIC-20 driver that would let put a tape drive in place of the floppy. Heck, I even have the source for a PD QIC-20 driver! Anybody know anything about that? In any case, I would like to know if there are any drives that can be operated serially which are priced reasonably. I'd take an educated guess and follow up from there with the manufacturer if need be. I work for a F500 company and can often squeeze our otherwise unavailable specs..... Post away, but please mail too, as my news source is near a black hole! -Cliff Elam {ihnp4,mcnc}!ethos!fubar!cliff Increase our bandwidth: Shrink headers, use abbrev's, BAN CUTE SHIT!
